MEET THE COLLECTIVE

Kányinsọ́lá Ọbáyàn, Founder and Executive Director Kányinsọ́lá Ọbáyàn is in love with the creative arts. She genuinely believes in its power to transformatively impact society for good.  Kányinsọ́lá holds dual bachelor’s degrees in International Relations and Global Studies, as well as African and African Diaspora Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.  She is currently a Ph.D. student in Africana Studies at Cornell University, and serves as the Deputy Editor of Applause Africa magazine.  She enjoys singing and writing.

Ibijoke Oke, Founding Member and Director of Operations Ibijoke is a second-year fellow at the Cornell Institute of Public Affairs and a specialist in Economic and Financial policy. She is passionate about devolopment in Africa, particularly education. Ibijoke is a fan of the creative arts and was an active dancer and short play actress in college.

ANJOLA COKER, Director of FINANCE Anjola Coker is a spoken word poet, illustrator, filmmaker and forensic accountant on her days off. Formally a resident of the beautiful city of Dallas, TX, she now resides in Houston, where she continues to create pieces that celebrate blackness, faith and wholeness. She is passionate about creative arts in its use in storytelling. Anjola holds a Bachelors degree in Accountancy from The University of Houston and a Master of Science degree in Accountancy from University at Albany.

Jessica Obilom, Founding Member and Director of Communications Jessica Obilom is a trained professional actress residing in Los Angeles, California. A native of Texas, she has been acting since she was 14 years old. She loves acting because it is a way to take a momentary vacation from regular life, while simultaneously expressing one's true self in a stimulating way. She hopes to inspire others to pursue a career doing what they love as well. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from the University of Texas at Austin. Hook 'em horns.
